The Canada Warbler (Cardellina canadensis), Olive-sided Flycatcher (Contopus cooperi) and Rusty Blackbird (Euphagus carolinus) are three Landbird Species at Risk (SAR) that breed in forested wetlands in Nova Scotia. The Landbird Species at Risk Forested Wetlands Project is geared towards identifying high quality forested wetland habitat for these three species in Nova Scotia, and is part of a larger collaborate research initiative to learn more about forested wetlands and its conservation across Atlantic Canada.

On this website you will find information about the life history, identification, habitat, and conservation status of our three SAR land birds. You can volunteer with us by reporting a sighting of our three birds in Nova Scotia and/or by conducting a survey(s) at designated site(s). We rely on citizen scientists such as yourself to help us locate good quality habitat and new breeding areas for the Canada Warbler, Olive-sided Flycatcher, and Rusty Blackbird throughout Nova Scotia!
